Tell us about yourself and your baking journey!
I have been a graphic artist for over 20 years. When my daughter went to Kindergarten, I decided to try a new career in Real Estate. Through that journey, I was creating gift baskets for clients when they would purchase or sell a home with me. I hired a cookie artist to create some cookies for my gift basket -- and being a creative person at heart -- decided I should give it a try for the next client. I did not come from a baking background, so baking was very new to me. The decorating came pretty naturally!
Once I started decorating cookies, the rest is history! Not only were clients impressed, but others quickly started ordering and asking me for custom designs. After 2 years of juggling real estate and cookies, I decided to dig into cookies full-time. Cookie Momsta DFW is my newest passion and I truly love what I get to do for a living!
What do you like about Judee's ingredients?
I currently use the meringue powder after switching from another brand I used. I LOVE the way Judee's Complete Meringue Powder Mix whips up and the way it highlights my royal icing base flavors!
What's your favorite holiday or event to bake for?
Oh goodness - so many! Christmas and Halloween are my favorite holidays. My favorite event would have to be baby girl baby showers! There's just so much you can do and baby girl things are just so fun to create.
What's a baking tip you wish everyone knew?
...There truly is chemistry behind great baked goods!
What is the most rewarding part of baking for you?
Creating the perfect canvas to decorate. It's like art therapy for me to decorate cookies
Where do you draw inspiration for your baking from?
Everywhere! My daughter inspires me with her art, my husband helps me bounce around ideas, and I draw a lot from my years as a graphic artist and painter, and I think all of those things help to inspire never-ending creativity for decorating. I'm inspired by everything around me - colors in nature, textures, printed materials.
